the vhkc team

The VHKC aspires to share the passion of motorsport through accessible competitive events.

We are a team of passionate racers, deriving from semi-professional karting, real-life racing, sim racing and Esports. Together with our experience, we hope to host a fun racing series for all to enjoy.

ben

Ben is a creative thinker with a strong passion for motorsport. As a child, he would go to Calder Park with his dad, who would also take him tandem karting at Fun City  (now known as Karting Madness), in Braybrook.

He spent most of his adult life working in the world of competitive video game events, otherwise known as Esports. Through his work, Ben has vast experience in event coordination, content creation and broadcast production.

When working at large events based in the centre of Melbourne, Ben would often organize a competitive night of karting with his colleagues, featuring team points systems and multi-division racing. It was here that he found his passion for accessible karting and now aims to share that passion through the VHKC.

future goals of the vhkc

  • As we kick off our inaugural season with an age-restricted (14 years of age minimum), we aspire to host a Junior series for ages 8 to 13 at applicable venues.

  • Whilst the competitive racing experience will remain our core focus, providing a race broadcast with multiple camera angles, scoring and commentary would take the experience to a whole new level. Driver’s friends and family could watch along, or the drivers could simply watch the race themselves after the event.

Thus with our team's experience in event broadcasts, we aim to eventually bring race broadcasts to our events, starting with key events such as season openers or finales.

  • If the VHKC garners enough interest across Victoria, we may investigate splitting the championship into an Eastern and Western Regional Series, reducing the travel times for drivers for the majority of a season.

With the use of reverse track layouts and alternative venues, leading drivers from each region would be invited to a VHKC finale to conclude the season and find our overall champions.
